On Corny Chat i have "ads" that appear in text chat every 15 minutes. But users can hide them if they setup NWC to pay the dev.
Not at all; even better if they're configurable.
As long as you add a confetti animation when you zap the dev 🎉

I would say there's zero reason not to try it, and it's not annoying or unreasonable.
However, it's similar to setting up an alert or something that becomes too noisy. It may be effective initially, perhaps even the second time around, but eventually, it leads to alert fatigue and you ignore it. Then it just becomes UI noise.
I'd imagine the incoming zaps from it will steadily decrease - just a gut feeling though.
Maybe once a day or randomly every couple of days as a tiny reminder, otherwise if it’s too repetitive it’s something we’ll scroll right past as it blends in and totally ignore it
How about
“We removed something you didn’t want to see. Zap to thank the developer.”
Fill in spots where the user muted certain content. Maybe every 100 or so muted posts.
