I have been pleasantly surprised with the architecture of SimpleX and how well it works. Things that make it better than other private messengers:

- It doesn't use a phone number.

- There is no user ID with which servers or a third party can trace messages.

- It is decentralized with a network of federated servers.

- The servers do not store any messages, they are only a transport agent, although they hold messages in a queue until they are delivered.

- Different routes are used for sending and receiving messages.

- You can set up your own server.

- The gui is really polished.

- Supports calls and encrypted video.

- It works.

It has many things in common with Nostr, it just works, p2p messengers have a lot of usability and performance problems, maybe for some things distributed networks are not ideal and you have to resort to decentralized networks like SimpleX.

Thanks this is awesome!

That's my biggest gripe with Signal is that they tie identities to phone numbers.

Signal also has a shitcoin.

SimpleX is the shit! 🔥💯🏴‍☠️☣️🤝

I've been trying to draw my friends' attention to the app for months... unfortunately in vain so far 🥴😩

🔥💯🏴‍☠️☣️ Top!

You should interview a SimpleX dev on a future episode! I'd love to hear how their cryptography compares to Signal's. Signal's double ratchet scheme was cutting edge for maintaining security and privacy. I hope SimpleX has borrowed the good, or even improved on it!

We talked about that a good bit in the episode I linked, actually!

They use the exact same encryption protocol because it's brilliant and proven.

Very much agrees, has quickly rivaled Signal for favorite messenger app!

Just a couple. More features and I’ll onboard all of my friends.

But no native support for Tor.

A big deal for newbies. The Session app has a great Tor integration.

Session is based on a shitcoin, it is not sustainable.

Simple works through tor as well

To communicate over Session I don't need any Oxen Token. What are your concerns?

Study how session nodes work

Trying it

Can someone ooen a chat with me?
