We had a phone number to call that would tell you how many voice messages you had waiting and let you listen to them. You could even respond to them by recording another message and sending it back.
I’ve never ever sent or received a voice message on my phone, wasn’t ever a thing 🤷♂️💜

We didn’t even have 911 yet. You had to KNOW the phone number of the local fire department or call the operator to connect you in an emergency.

This sounds so crazy to me, I was born in 99 😂💜
To be honest, it was awesome. Meeting friends was an adventure every time. You’d call (on the landline) decide when and where to meet, and then venture out into the world with no means of communication until you returned home, unless you count the odd pay phone (which you never had change for anyway).
Sounds amazing honestly, I didn’t have a phone before 1st grade, and that’s what I can really compare it to 🤷♂️💜
