Yo what is up with Breez? My buddy had some corn on there and he asked me to help him send to a different wallet. I personally sent it for him and the transaction was pending for a while and I had to go so I told him to check in a few hours. Fast forward to today weeks later the pending transaction disappeared (not a completed or failed transaction) along with his sats. There are only records of sats sent to his Breez wallet nothing going out. Yet his balance is 0. Where did the sats go? Not in the wallet I sent to and no outgoing transactions in Breez history.

I did not recommend Breez to him nor would I recommend it to anyone. That was the first time I interacted with Breez and to be completely honest it was the worst UI / UX on any wallet I have ever used hands down.

He’s going to reach out to their support team and I will update this note once he does with their response.

This is weird. I have been using Breez for over a year and nothing like this has happened. Never had any problems.

I’ve used many wallets over the past 8 years and never have seen a pending transaction disappear.

I’ve seen transactions fail, get stuck in the mempool, but never just straight up disappear.

Ok, so it wasn’t a lightning transaction? Don’t they use some atomic swap mechanism when sending on-chain?

I only use it for lightning transactions. Shocking that it happened, I hope he figures it out and his sats are ok.

Yes it was an on chain transaction. I had original tried to send via lightning but the transaction wouldn’t go through.

My friend isn’t into bitcoin that much. But when we hang together and get food one of us will pay cash and the other would get reimbursed with sats. Well yesterday he said just pay me back in cash, I asked him why and he said that he lost the sats he had in breez.

Roy from Breez here. Not sure what happened to your friend, but sats can't just disappear. If you sent an on-chain transaction and the swap failed, they should be refunded in Breez.

FYI here is a screenshot of his transaction history as you can see no outgoing transactions and 0 balance.

I see... I think his channels got forced close for some reason. Maybe something useful in the warning?

I’ll have him check, I’m not sure if I clicked on that icon yesterday, maybe a banner message/ notification can help other users when an edge case like this happens! Happy to hear you guys are on it!

I used it for a while listening to podcasts in 2020/21 or so. It consumed lots of battery but i never had a problem with the wallet sending or receiving. It was a bit too buggy so eventually i moved over to fountain.
