So there’s a ton of drama around our friend and long time open source contributor nostr:npub1k5f85zx0xdskyayqpfpc0zq6n7vwqjuuxugkayk72fgynp34cs3qfcvqg2 project BTClock. As an official reseller (by taking over the shop of nostr:npub1l72k70rvkpg8ssrrc4rsdtsza973xqek3vqf4vjp7zhvvn7ze7tsn0gwtp ) of nostr:npub12ctjk5lhxp6sks8x83gpk9sx3hvk5fz70uz4ze6uplkfs9lwjmsq2rc5ky products like nostr:npub19canpmsgykwumm43uxmp0l5sernavvnrf87mau9a6xnjfx6ajjhsh9qj29 and opendime etc. we now have to ask ourselves if we want to proceed with selling these products. The behavior of nostr:npub1az9xj85cmxv8e9j9y80lvqp97crsqdu2fpu3srwthd99qfu9qsgstam8y8 against open source development in the space is strange to see. The products are fantastic, but why would you attack it with a cease and desist order?

So a request for comments and dialogue here on Nostr as one of the largest resellers of nostr:npub1s0vtkgej33n7ec4d7ycxmwt78up8hpfa30d0yfksrshq7t82mchqynpq6j nostr:npub17tyke9lkgxd98ruyeul6wt3pj3s9uxzgp9hxu5tsenjmweue6sqq4y3mgl nostr:npub1tg779rlap8t4qm8lpgn89k7mr7pkxpaulupp0nq5faywr8h28llsj3cxmt nostr:npub1jg552aulj07skd6e7y2hu0vl5g8nl5jvfw8jhn6jpjk0vjd0waksvl6n8n Jade, bitaxe, books and educational material and a lot of other products is in place. We just a couple of days ago restocked on coldcard Qs and to be honest the margins are the worst on the products out of any manufacturer. We always have significant stock levels because we want to be able to deliver directly and safely, we invest in this and therefore have high stock levels on the coinkite products currently. If we would dump the products this would mean a significant loss now and in future revenue. So this is a complex decision. Because a lot of people use these solutions for amazing setups with nostr:npub1cvqlzvmjercdn0ypsmv8f7j9lge6ahsnueh5rparh53wuswftv4q49yjt3 and nostr:npub1hea99yd4xt5tjx8jmjvpfz2g5v7nurdqw7ydwst0ww6vw520prnq6fg9v2 sparrow FE. So this post is a sentiment check. Let’s see how the bitcoin community feels about all this drama. We’re here for the bitcoiners. And will always supply what is asked by the plebs and we’re here for the plebs. Doing our best to supply freedom since #700.000. Oh and btw, every drama is good for bitcoin. I think we need a GitHub on #nostr, that’s what I think.

I don’t like censoring, deleting online content that you think ‘hurts’ you.

Yes the #btclock might look like a replica of @NVK his blockclock, but attacking your ‘opponent’ by taking down their GitHub repo isn’t the right way to approach this. We should all be wiser that that.

No but nostr:npub1h0rnetjp2qka44ayzyjcdh90gs3gzrtq4f94033heng6w34s0pzq2yfv0g are working on it I think. They announced and showed it at Nostriga.

3. He has the right to not be happy with that

4. It isn't a cool move to use 'legal means' first, but he is still just using his rights of: everyone can do the fuck what they want, just as it's everyone 's right to think this is not a nice move 😁 , everyone would act very different if it would be a real ripoff competitor, but it ain't

5. It is everyone 's right as well to call it a shit move, but calling for boycott is just as shitty 🤷🏻

6. Not selling their products is cutting your business, not theirs, but I understand the question, you want to offer the service to please your customers, but they also can just choose for themselves 🤷🏻. Might be lower demand so keep lower stock. Again your choice

I can only verify that your products and services have been and continue to be the best in the Benelux imo. It is a shame for you to get into such a situation. Am sorry that you’re going through this.

I'd say sell off the ColdCard product you already have on hand (consider if you'd be willing to let it go at cost), and then simply don't reorder. You have to stand up for what makes the most sense for your customers but also what will best support the overall FOSS & Bitcoin community. Values matter. 🤙
