Speaking of reading: Yesterday it was Bakunin, today its Abundance, Generosity, and the State by Jörg Guido Hülsmann.
Just reading through a passage on the destruction of families by interference of the state. Here's another take on authority: "When the state intervenes to "liberate" citizens from authorities such as the church, fathers, and mothers, it damals family life. Indeed, on the one hand, such interventions need to be funded by taxation [...]. On the other hand, they tend to make family superfluous." p.347

In the matter of boots, I refer to the authority of the bootmaker; concerning houses, canals, or railroads, I consult that of the architect or engineer [...] I bow before the authorityof special men because it is imposed on me by my on reason [...] This same reason forbids me, then, to recognize a fixed, constant and universal authority ... "
Makes a lot of sense. 'Don't trust, verify' just doesn't always work.

The core issue of the case is that they were helping criminals commit crimes.
If they just made a wallet and didn't know how people were using it, that's a different situation.
FinCEN said they did not require a license, so it seems pretty clear that this is a plea deal. Plead guilty to the lesser charge, even if you are innocent, and end the stress of not knowing your fate. The prosecuters get a basically guaranteed win, the defendents probably get the prosecution to recommend some prison sentence less than the maximum and the judge decides whether to respect that recommendation or not.
I'm not saying I am happy about the outcome, or that I agree that they are in fact guilty of the particular charge they are pleading guilty to; I'm just explaining the case and what developers in the US can learn from this case.
If you are considering making wallet software, please get a lawyer, no matter what country you are in, whether you have control of the funds or not, are offer privacy features, etc. The whole thing is a lightning rod of controversy, seemingly unclear laws, and far too many jurisdictions. Or don't get a lawyer. I'm not the boss of you. 😄

I disagree. Carnivore diet probably gives you all the macronutrients you need, but it comes with an increased risk in colon cancer. Fiber on the other hand reduces the risk by diluting detrimental compounds and reducing transit time. Your gut microbiome also benefits. Iron overload of your GI tract by eating a lot of red meat results in increased oxidative stress. Vitamin C as an potent antioxidant might be able to reduce this.
