It seems likely that they aren't seeing your updated profile note (kind 0), which suggests it is saved on a relay that they aren't looking at, or in Primal's case that their caching relay isn't pulling data from. Something you could do to try and ensure they see it is to update your write relays on a client that shows the correct information to include a couple major relays, like relay.primal.net and relay.damus.io, then make some small change to your profile, like updating something in the bio.

Primal could take a bit to pull that new profile info into their caching relay, but you should be able to verify that it has been updated on noStrudel pretty quickly. Then you can set your relays back to your preference.

Made the changes and it actually updated the profile description but not the profile name! LOL F me. (and I made minor changes to both)

That is very strange indeed. The client is obviously seeing the update to your profile note and your "Display Name" is stored in the very same note... I wonder if the client just doesn't respect any changes to the display name? Or it only pulls that information from a local cache if it exists there? Try deleting your local cache.

Nostrudel is showing "Atmos for Podcasting" for me. Primal has been trying to load the profile for about a minute without success for some reason...

Yeah... that's gotta be something about how they handle changes to the display name. They are obviously seeing your kind 0 note and updating other profile info accordingly, but they are not updating the display name that is contained in THE VERY SAME NOTE!

I can remember back in the day when nostr:npub1m4ny6hjqzepn4rxknuq94c2gpqzr29ufkkw7ttcxyak7v43n6vvsajc2jl was always changing her display name and profile picture, which was confusing a lot of users because they didn't recognize her and wondered why this person they hadn't followed was showing up in their feed. Maybe changing display name is not respected in these clients to help prevent something similar?

Kind 0 notes contain important stuff like wallets and websites. Any client or relay, who doesn't immediately update, is wrong.

Something strange happened in this case. I guess that while most clients only have one field for "Display Name," Primal and noStrudel have an additional field for Username, too.

For the life of me, I don't know why they have both, or why updating the kind 0 in a client that doesn't have that tag at all didn't wipe it from Primal and noStrudel. Unless they save that particular datapoint in a separate note from the kind 0, maybe?

The issue persists on #primal and #nostrudel so maybe one of these kind devs can help me. Or else my meditation account will continue having the incorrect name which will confuse everyone forever. F me

I fixed it. I logged into primal with nsec and updated profile there. Then immediately Nostrudel reflected the change.
