For those who still don’t know it: #nostr doesn’t protect your privacy by default ! You have to connect to different relays to communicate with most people using nostr, you’ll be exposing your IP address to every relay you connect to, directly associating your IP address to your digital identity on nostr.

Direct messages are encrypted BUT the metadata isn’t and to whom you talked to is a public information!

Whatever. We strapped 😆

How do you make it more private?

Use tor and don’t use DMs

Only connect while using a VPN service. While Tor might be a more private option, you jabe to consider that quite a number of relays doesn't allow connections via Tor.

localization compromised ??!! 👀

I'm assuming best way to prevent this is use a combination of Tor and/or a VPN?

Yeap! That’s right

And only connect using random public cafe networks or hacking into your neighbors network?

Good thing I'm in Romania

🤣😂

It would be really cool if the application you're using had a setting where it would refuse to connect and do anything unless you were on a VPN.

Tor inside the client

You're exposed not only to relays but to all the servers of the embedded media that's posted.

TOR/Orbot não resolve essa questão?

- Use Tor onion address + Orbot or if you want to connect to clearnet addresses using a Tor or NYM SOCKS5 proxy

- dVPN

- Use you own relay + bouncer
