Just wear wool all year.

Always perfect temperature, always looks good, and you'll hardly have to wash clothes.

but if you have to wash it is a pain 🀣

Yeah, just don't wash it. Air it out, overnight, and then wear it again, the next day.

That's why hikers love wool.

Especially merino.

That was some years ago. Actually other wool can be textiled like merino

Good to know. I've been a bit out of the loop as Bitcoin podcasts took over the time I used to spend listening to Backpacker Radio.

The modern merinos are amazing, tho.

Remember, wool (and leather) are meant to be worn by animals, so they don't stink when you sweat.

Why do some dogs smell so bad then?

The yeast and bacteria on their skin gets trapped in the water. When they dry, then smell goes away.

The wool sometimes smells a bit, under the armpits, when I take it off, but I air it out and then it smells fine and can be worn again.

Not if you have something like this πŸ˜‹ (you just throw them in)

My song would be called β€žPolyester Oil Sweatβ€œ

Itβ€˜s a metal song, scratchy, itchy

If it was a Youtube video: β€žHow to make scratchy clothing with smooth crude oilβ€œ

How do you manage during summer? I am actually curious.

Wool actually isn't as hot as you'd think in summer. It wicks moisture, and is breathable. Most clothesclothes intended for summer are thinner/lighter weight.

Yeah, I just wear thinner wool. I even have some tank-tops that are merino wool mixed with silk and they are incredibly fine and light. I wear them as undershirts in the winter and as tops in the summer.

The prices are very high, of course, but you only need 2 or 3, and I've worn them for over a decade. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

I also have not that many different pices. Always wearing the same black shirt, protects your brain capacity.

Yeah, my wardrobe keeps shrinking in number of items, but rising in price per item. I can't even get a single load of laundry together, once per week, in winter.

Wear the same outfit 4 days in a row, and then switch to a different version of the same thing, while that washes.

My daughter is a crochet-junkie, so I'm on the couch, finishing my Easter stitching and she's working on her alpaca cape and we're like

Always wool socks and base layers. You really can’t beat them.

Yeah, I can't go back. I'm wool-spoiled.

Impossible to get a decent wool suit for under Β£400 in the UK these days.

It's always the same, priced in gold.

Correct.

One great benefit is that if it gets wet you don't feel cold like with other fabrics (another great reason why hikers like it). Also wool is not slippery on ice (you can use wool socks outside of your shoes on a slippery ice road).

The negative is they tear up easily (if they don't have some elastine)

I have hiking socks, out of cushioned wool, they have a bit of elastine in them, I think. Very stretchy.

I wore some wool socks recently when in a colder place. Liked the warmth, but they definitely were a bit damp ar times πŸ˜…

Yeah they can be damp but without the cold effect like others.

Did you know that fire men wear merino wool because it doesn't catch fire until 570Β°C? That's amazing.

Oh, actually all wool is like that. Wow.

I was this many days old...
