as I've heard it the ostrich was used because it is the biggest bird. and also because it has -ostr in the name.

I agree that nostr will be bigger and more things than the other little blue bird app will ever be but there's a charm in having a collective history.

ostrich origin came from an AI chatbot attempting to make a nostr joke which eventually caught people's attention. The "biggest bird' is but an interpretation.

Regardless, bigger bird, better app 🤣
