Long overdue, I’ve replaced Grammarly with (the unfortunately named) LanguageTool. The latter is open source, can be self-hosted, and/or used for free and anonymously. It’s every bit as good as Grammarly in my experience.

Thank you for posting. A couple years ago I was looking for such a tool and I did not come across this so I am pretty excited. I used Grammarly when I was in graduate school and was pretty happy with it but decided I didn’t like divulging all my written ideas to their service so have since gave it up.
