I believe engagement has been in decline for a while. User retention could also be much better. The influx of new users that stick around isn't great.
Well, I like Nostr because it’s blissfully boring, but 100% signal.
I don't think it's boring at all. I'm always laughing and having a great time. It's definitely all signal though. Agree there. Two years of non stop signal.
Perhaps we have become accustomed too soon to the constant news.
The problem is that if we who have a fair number of followers see a decline, I dare not imagine how newcomers feel.

I don't know what client but you (and I) are included in auto follow list or suggested list for new users. therefore bunch of these accounts that are following are people that try once and don't stick around. see nostr.band for user stats
I think it's Primal who put us on a list of artists to follow, but I'm not sure.
Its says 1066 followers. What I've noticed is people who are mostly on here to sell things or boost their "brand" don't get as much engagement
As far as I'm concerned, I didn't come to Nostr to sell my paintings or to boost my brand, it was just a consequence of the arrival of the zaps.
I prefer quality over quantity. I can't even have 3 different conversations with people 😂
