You do not need to protect yourself against the sun. A sunburn is fine. Just get more shade if you don't want the sunburn. And UV light is actually good for you.

Despite my lip balm addiction too—which is even more annoying.
You'll be looking into it again in 40 years if you are prone to it - this is the thing I see most around me now, old leather skin and carsonoma removal marks all over the head and chest.

I would say that is due to other circumstances such as sun PLUS a bad diet such as one where you're consuming (a lot of) seedoils.
Your milage can vary for sure!
Just don't count on that "sunburns don't matter" part. At a minimum, you have inflammation followed by scar tissue formation just like every pimple or mosquito bite you get. Microscopic, yes, but just like stacking SATs, that inelastic tissue accumulates with time.

Thanks for the warning. If anything I spend too little time in the sun though, I haven't gotten a burn, even a little one, in the last 20 years.
