IF YOU HAVE A FRIEND IN TOWN WHO IS COMPETENT ASK THEM IF THEY WILL GO SHOOT WITH YOU.

IF YOU DO NOT, FIND A LOCAL RANGE AND BOOK A LESSON.

TRAIN. TRAIN. TRAIN. THE SKILLS ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE SPECIFIC TOOL.

Biggest advice to new shooters and beyond: do not get hung up about which gear newest and “best”. One solid fundamentals class will improve your effectiveness more than the newest gadget ever could.

Tried to zap you, but you need to set up your wallet first!

Shooting competitions as well, even small local ones. It introduces time and pressure. I came in near dead last the first few I shot but those were when I learned the most

Take a basic handgun course. A good instructor will help you get started on your journey and give you skills to keep you and your family safe.

Find a local gun club, become a member, and take some classes.

Take 101 class. Buy basic gun that fits your grip. Buy holsters until one is comfortable. Dry fire endlessly. Train drills (YouTube is full of training: Ben Stoger, modern samurai, tactical hyve, Trex arms).
