I don't know, every subscription model feels negative these days. It's like being held hostage to the provider's future services, where they can arbitrarily decide not to deliver them anymore for whatever reason they come up with.
You’re using a VPN? Oh, our systems triggered a security warning. You need to do more KYC, give us more data so we can unlock you and continue providing you the CONTRACTUALLY AGREED SERVICES. Forget about your right to hide your IP address. Why don’t you just surf the internet naked like all the other suckers out there? Don’t you get that we’re entitled to get all kinds of data from you, on top of the subscription fees we take from you upfront?
Assholes. Real assholes.
Self-host everything you can. Get an Umbrel server that makes self-hosting way more easier, if you can. And prefer P2P whenever possible to avoid those asshole-tactics.
