Threads also saw a massive surge and then interest died lol 😂

Huh?

Bluesky accounts are key pairs and DIDs but they keys are stored on a PDS server which handles signing. You own your keys and can migrate to a different server, but use a username (domain name actually) and password to login. This is similar to nsec bunker in many ways.

Does this mean no anonyminity?

It’s just mastodon

I kinda see what you mean

Unfortunately i can't sign up for bluesky because I don't have an email address or birthdate.

Hows bluesky diff than Mastadon ? I found mastadon very difficult to use and bluesky sounds similar to me.

Different protocols. Bluesky is closer to nostr in that you control your identity and can choose what servers host your data. Right now bluesky data and ux is much closer to mastodon and twitter. Neither support encryption and private messages / groups or the more interesting new / different applications.

I'm a little sad about these reporting the numbers posts .. for a few reasons.

1) bsky and other centralized platforms knows who is connected (nostr can't know this and can only estimate roughly number of posts, *not active users),

2) shenanigans in boosting numbers for marketing are well known and botted to hell and back (nostr kindly tries to exclude these and does no marketing for our numbers)

So if we keep playing by these 'rules' it'll always be a disappointing headline. We need to measure other stuff, like zaps.

Breaking news, nostr has 1 million daily zaps, bsky zero zaps!

Can you tell me more about “(nostr can’t know this and can only estimate roughly number of posts, not active users). Why can’t nostr know active users? or users in general - bc active is subjective

Because apps would have to report when you're scrolling and not posting..

it can only be an estimate based on observed events, similar to block solutions versus mining attempts

there is an inherent survivorship bias in that what you see is only what gets out not what goes in between inception and getting out

That's what we like to see.👍

it is hard for them to catch ip after #nostr ramp up. the winner takes it all

It's still woke as hell
