Absolutely.
Someone appreciates Gossip's manual-only contacts list push for this reason.
That's also why I loved G+ circles.
While you could see who followed you, you don't know what circles a user put you in.
But I definitely agree on private follows too.🤝
What we made lists for
I remember these from Twitter. I had a bunch of well maintained lists. I kept most public, but can see the desire for private lists too.
I was a heavy user of those! Most my lists were private. The best part was being able to add an account to a list without having to follow it.
Customizable feeds can deliver lists and more. Gossip client might add scriptable feed views…
That would be great. Optionality.
Dual wielding two npubs? One for just following, one for public discourse?
A lists function would be awesome as well. Particularly when implemented as easily clickable or swipeable alternative timelines that also remember timeline position 🙏
💯 Lists make it easier/possible to focus on one topic at a time. Even better if they remember where you left off
