I did Japanese BBQ like 2 days agoโฆ and holy shit bro. It was incredible. EXCEPT for the fuckin wagyu, second time trying it and absolutely hate it lol so overrated, the most fuckin overrated cut of meat Iโve ever had. I gave it the benefit of the doubt n tried it a second time, first time was in Vegas n it was like a whole steak, this time it was cut into strips.

My experience as well...it's better but generally not worth what they charge. I did find much cheaper waygu here in Baja Sur, locally raised. Was worth it at $30usd a pound which is not the Japanese waygu price obviously.
Iโm still in that phase of my life where I can only tolerate so much grease hahaah but Iโm sure the ones near you that are locally raised Iโll prob like better if they arenโt as greasy ๐
Actually as a pure carnivore the fat is where all the nutrition is. Once in ketosis the fat and or grease is what my body craves. I used to cut the fat off of steak, now it's the 1st thing I eat. You really have to be in ketosis to appreciate the fat ๐
Our local beef is grass fed but not well marbled, more fat than traditional tomahawks but the flavor is fantastic...just have to chew a bit more๐ค

I think american wagyu has a grainey texture if its undercooked and all the fat renders out if its overcooked. Maybe there's a technique for cooking it that we're not accustomed to?

Youโre onto something there,, I didnโt see the hype either when I had tried it locally , but I visited a nice steak house in Boerne and they had some cuts flown in from Japan that were off the menus ,, most expensive steak I ever ate so far but it was damn good and way better than anything else I had tried before.
