*unraveling*
What is your purpose?
Donβt understand
I think this is slightly touching on some concepts of The Image by Daniel Boorstin and his concept of the "pseudo event", but takes it a lot farther. I do not understand the use of the word "capitalism" here. I think that has a definition of its own and I think it muddles her point. It's not about capitalism, it's about technology and how it changes how we think and communicate.
"The Gulf War Did Not Take Place" apparently touches on the "pseudo-event" concept/observation
(Interesting insight π€π)
Capitalism is not a random label here, Prisoner24601:
"capitalism selects which messages survive and scale, if attention, outrage, and novelty monetize better than accuracy, then the system will produce
1) more pseudo-events,
2) more spectacle,
3) more narrative packaging regardless of the technology used...π€
(*) Technology changes speed and reach, but capitalism decides what gets optimized π.
Where's this from? Is there more?
I'm curious!
