ok I have been teetering between DIY Umbrel and DIY Start9 over the last month running both simultaneously.

Which one do you guys prefer and why?

If shipping was available to Canada, I would have just purchased a RoninDojo Tanto.

The reasons I am running Umbrel is because I can use that same PC as a file server simultaneously, which I cannot do with Start9.

However Umbrel has some memory issues with electrum server and HTTP login. Start9 doesnt have this concern but cannot run Samba behind the scenes.

I'm a big fan of what nostr:npub126ntw5mnermmj0znhjhgdk8lh2af72sm8qfzq48umdlnhaj9kuns3le9ll has built but there's still some functionality that they've not built in yet that leaves me using an Umbrel on the side.

I just repurposed a server and run umbrel on it. I upgraded from a pic because I was so frustrated and not much better. Reliability is shit and it is still soooo slow. I am going to trash it and install Start9. Right now nothing can be worse than my umbrel.

I ran both but now just running #start9 and it’s been great. Uptime is 100% the documentation and tech support is really top notch. It is extremely limited on apps unlike umbrel and running CLN was a pain but other than those two things it has been a pleasant experience

I ended up fully migrating to Start9 and sacrificing the Samourai Dojo Server for now just because of stability and performance and security being the best on Start9. Used a separate machine as file server this time.
