Our legal system isn't about protecting individuals anymore, it's about punishing individuals who disobey the authorities.
Discussion
It’s always just been about protecting property. Belonging to specific people.
Which I'm in inherently opposed too, but when the system provides a few individuals with special privilege to own more then others, then uses the legal system designed to prevent this as the exact mechanism to enforce it, we've truly lost our way.
💯
Hopefully bitcoin fixes this 🤣
But Bitcoin is also property! So will it🤔
Bitcoin and by extension technology is just a mirror. It can show us how we are behaving but it's up to us to make the change. It may change the incentives, but we still have a choice. If we choose as individuals to relinquish our sovereignty for convenience or comfort, then there is nothing bitcoin can do to help us.
However if we simply didn't notice we were behaving that way and Bitcoin was the orange light that brought that knowledge to the forefront, well then we are truly orange pilled and have changed who we are.
Property is neutral, but as individuals if we don't mature and take responsibility and stewardship over our own capital, then we trust others who will always tilt the scale to their favor and the imbalance of society begins and then accelerates.
So well said. Thank you
Bitcoin is a different kind of property.
You can own it by keeping a secret and you don't need to physically defend it like all other property.
Always has been meme
I suppose I romanticize about a bygone era of individuals that created common law never had this in mind. Certainly cannot find anything supporting this in the writings of Locke or Rousseau.
Absolutely, and that's why it's crucial for us to be informed and proactive in matters of law. Understanding our rights and the legal system is essential in defending ourselves effectively. We must ensure we're equipped with the knowledge and resources to advocate for ourselves, especially in a system that can often seem more focused on punishment than protection. It's about empowerment and ensuring justice is truly served.
Yes it's very much about capabilities, the more capable you are the more free you can be.
