The "peace" being proposed by Trump is a high-time preference surrender in disguise.

Ukraine has already been through this before, many times over. Russia proposes a "peace", regroups, and attacks again. Russia did the exact same thing with Chechnya in the 90's: Russia lost the first war, signed a peace treaty, and just spent the next three years rearming to attack again. This time winning.

European countries know this, especially ones bordering Russia. To achieve an actual peace Russia needs to be thoroughly defeated and permanently disarmed. Fucking up their economy is the most realistic way to do that.

Fortunately, Russia makes its money via highly flammable oil and gas infrastructure:

You could make the same preposition for Ukraine, they too can just rearm and attack. What’s the alternative, fighting Russia ‘till the last Ukrainian?

And lining the pockets meanwhile…

Ukraine is the one being invaded.

This is not a symmetrical situation.

Also, claiming this is a matter of "lining pockets" is absurd defamation.

Defamation of who? Would you question that the war makes money like nothing else? Do you see the possibility of Ukraine actually clearing Russian soldiers from the east (let alone Crimea?)

Russia is murdering Ukrainians in their sleep with drones and ballistic missile attacks on apartment buildings. This photo is from yesterdays attack on Kyiv, a nearly daily event:

Killing Russian soldiers is no more terrible than capturing murderers or putting down rabid dogs. If you're a squeamish young kid it might be hard to watch. But adult men should be able to recognize that it has to be done. Since it has to be done, it should be done in the most effective way possible at the least risk to the good people doing it. Right now, that's with remote controlled drones.

You don't get a choice how this ends. Getting angry because good people are using drones to kill bad people doesn't stop bad people from using drones to kill good people. It just means that good people won't be able to defend themselves when they get attacked.

Hell, if Ukraine hadn't gived up their nuclear weapons most likely _none_ of this would have happened. Ukraine would have been able to threaten Russia with annihilation, and not a single Ukrainian child would have been murdered.

Perhaps this assumption/categorisation is not really relevant. What's important, it is the history of this region, and believe me I know it well! Simplifications like good/bad are naive. There is no winners in this war.

What else can Trump do besides offering peace on terms beneficial to everyone? Give Ukrainians money and weapons? Biden already did that. The money was embezzled, the weapons destroyed, and Kyiv keeps losing control over the East. Trump may not be particularly effective and might not know what he's doing, but it’s not like he has a wide range of tools at his disposal. If he starts "showing strength", it will look even more ridiculous than his calls for peace.

This would be a good thing for defamation law to cover. You should know damn well that's it's obvious that Ukraine is in fact using donated military hardware and cash on defense, by the simple fact that Ukraine is successfully holding firm against Russian attacks. They're losing small amounts of territory in the east that Russia is taking at astronomical cost, while simultaneously being able to successfully take Russian territory, clear the black sea of Russian ships, and repeatedly hit military and industrial targets deep inside Russia. Just the other day Ukraine blew up a massive Russian ammo storage facility _north-east_ of Moscow:

Now, think through where that facility was and what it must have took for Ukraine to blow it up.

Claiming with zero evidence that Ukraine is just embezzling money on a significant scale rather than using it on defense is absurd. It would be perfectly reasonable for you to lose a few thousand dollars in a defamation claim over this.

You're either hopelessly stupid – the sort of person who doesn't really matter – or actively malicious. Likely both. Either way, it's reasonable to assume you are intentionally lying to defame Ukraine and collect damages from you for it.

Well, if Ukraine is doing as well in this conflict as you say, then there's nothing to worry about, and Trump's behavior looks all the more reasonable. After all, he's the President of the United States, not of Ukraine.

Ukraine wants the constant stream of murders to stop. Russia is using attacks on civilians as a way to try to crush Ukraine and force them to surrender, precisely because Russia is not having success on the battlefield. And more generally, because Russians are hopelessly evil and have absolutely no sense of honor.

I don't see any difference between Russians and Ukrainians, so I don't really understand what you're trying to say.

If Kyiv wants peace and is achieving a series of victories on the battlefield (as you say) in a nonstop mode, then that means peace is near, and Trump's praise doesn't contradict that in any way.

Ukraine is slowly winning. Slow is obviously bad here, as far too many innocent Ukrainians are dying in the process. If they had more support they could win faster, and fewer good people would die.

That is obvious to any reasonable person. Clearly you are just a troll.

If Zelensky wants to save the Ukrainians, it's time to stop winning and sit down for peace talks on Trump's terms. However, if victory is more important than the Ukrainians, then let Kyiv keep winning. Trump can't do anything about it.

Says who? They had 400Billion in cash, weapons, and all of the West's Intel, satellites and so forth, and still here we are.

The territory is slowly getting smaller by most mapping accounts.

No matter how bad you(and me, frankly) want them to, they aren't winning, and they aren't going to win. They lost in the first 3 months when 40% of their population left and cities destroyed.
