I bought a Pluggable dock for my new System76 notebook. It had Display Link Technology. Dafuq is that? Well, the TLDR is it's a virtual display driver that I have to rely on. No thank you. It made my second external monitor have an unusable amount of screen tearing. I should have went with the more expensive one that didn't have DiSpLaY LiNk TeChNoLgY.

Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

IT'S A DOCKING STATION AND A STAND?

WHAT SORCERY IS THIS?

THANK YOU!

I’ll vouch for CalDigit. Even the older docs like the TS3 are 🤌

You should return it and buy a desktop. My Ted advice

I've always had a powerful gaming rig and a shitty old laptop. Now I want a powerful laptop. The other option is to have both. Can I have $2K. Thanks 🤣

I would give you 2k but then I won't be a wholecoiner anymore

i was just joking brother. keep stacking.

HDMI & DisplayPort both have annoying limitations for a variety of reasons. DVI is ok for 2K, but can’t keep up with 4K. Go with Thunderbolt or USB-C for anything over 1080P144Hz.

That's what I'm using.

My pluggable dock I bought for system76 a long time ago is also shit. I’m not sure why system76 recommends them.
