Seems like it? Spam hasn't been a problem for me 🤷🏻♂️
Maybe it makes more sense to say that nostr doesn't have a lot of spam, it just has very little content. The spam to content ratio is high, and you can fix this in two ways
Or both ways. Maby the second way depends on the first way. I do not beliefe, that many people stay for long, when they experience agressive spam.
Possibly, but it seems like finding signal is too hard on nostr. There are a lot of smart people saying valuable things, but without "an algorithm", it's too much work to find them
I am almost in line with you. I agree that it is additional work. But I argue, that this is a work which is needed, in order to get rid of algorythms, which push you towards some bias.
And there is opportunity to create lists, which can serve as an entrance.
Could be in a way, where several users can recommend lists for a distinct purpose. Preferably centralized on a site.
"An algorithm" isn't the problem though. "Chronological events from people that you're following is an algorithm". It's the ability to choose one and understand it that defines agency
Yes it is true, that having the four essential liberties (run, distribute, study and change) over an algorythm is important. Not to get rid of algorythms.
