So you think 99.9% of the world using federated mints/banks through mobile apps from Apple and Google app stores will defund the State?

Nah. Only bitcoin in cold storage 🤝

Right. As it stands, only ~1/1000 people will get to do that.

It’s crazy when you think about it

But more are born every single day.., wait til there are 3rd and 4th generation bitcoiners. Fiat debasement and destruction are inevitable, #Bitcoin exposes all. It’s just a matter of time.

The rug pulls will continue until self-custody improves.

Competitive federated mints, networked by LN, & run on open source apps, & eventually on open source phones & other hardware are a very real potential solution given what is available right now without requiring any other major breakthroughs.

The very existence of Bitcoin, no matter how usable or unusable for day to day things, threatens everything about the way the State currently functions. All of the largest govts cannot exist in anything like their current forms without the power to inflate away people's savings.

We are already winning. Don't let how far we have left to go stop you from appreciating how far we have come.

Long term, I’m optimistic for the reasons you mentioned. The near term could be ugly, especially with rapid price appreciation and influx of adopters.

I’ve been bringing this up mostly to bring attention to the dishonesty of people, like Saylor, who talk about how revolutionary self custody is, but leave out the fact that only a few million people will be able to do it. Plus, in his case, advocation for no more soft-forks ever (to address limited availability of self custody) and KYC/AML/tax compliance built into the LN bank apps, so as to not threaten the power of the State.

Isn’t threatening the power of the state the entire reason for Bitcoin? 🤔🤷‍♂️💜

For most of us, yes. Not as much for Saylor, at least based on what he says publicly.

Not until they're educated

We have to educate and onboard the kids from a young age.
