She tried to force through an amount four times bigger than we wanted and it triggered an appraisal. She tried to lower it to the proper amount and it still asked for an appraisal.

I don't know if it would have asked for an appraisal at the lower amount anyway or if once it's triggered, it's triggered no matter what. She said she can't cancel it on her end so that makes me think this is the case.

I've seen where banks will do the value thing where you have a loan larger than you need because there's things that cone up and the project gets stuck b/c you're out of money, but 4x is a lot of liability. I think in this case the appraisal is to make sure they have enough security should you default. I hope this gets resolved quickly for you and your project is taken care of. See, the sun came up again. :) Things are OK.
