For me it's functionality and a sort of natural design that arises out of the functionality. With orange everywhere, which also is calming and spreads the light around nicely. Yeah 100% functionality really. I love aesthetics but it has to make sense.
I painted my bedroom walls a lovely orange color for about 20 years. I really like warm colors in my home, they help add to a feeling of happiness.
Sorry it was irony. I always mumble about my wife's putting a piece of decoration on every surface...
interior design and functionality are not mutually exclusive. I've seen some insanely well designed garage workshops and gaming rooms.

i guess interior design wise men are 80/20 for functionality, women 80/20 for aesthetics, but i'm severely generalising here of course
