Questions for parents:
What are we modeling as valuable?
What do we require of our children?
How and for what are we equipping our children?
Are we holding our children accountable, and how?
What do we celebrate as a family?

What do we celebrate as a family?
1. Time
2. Effort, responsibility, respect
3. Perseverance and struggle
4. By holding ourselves to the same standard we expect of them.
5. Our shared values, our culture and our accomplishments.
I’m not a parent (yet), but I think considering your family values is something that should be done way before getting married or becoming a parent.
Hopefully, you’re okay with me participating in the discussion.
Here are my answers:
1. Honesty, kindness, and open mindedness/intellectual curiosity
2. To learn and grow as a person
3. To be people who make meaningful and valuable contributions to society
4. Leading by example and establishing clear expectations while avoiding being overbearing and controlling
5. Holidays, any achievement whether big or small, or pretty much anything that gives us an excuse to enjoy each other’s company
Don’t know if my expectations are realistic, lol.
