Just using Nostr does not offer any protection. Your info (other than what you choose to hide) is available to anyone with your npub. If this guy used Nostr, without protecting himself in other ways, he would be in the same boat.
He was using a pseudonym but was a public figure. The government of India wouldn’t have had anywhere to ask for further information if he was using nostr.
In the case of X they can get all of the data, credit card, possibly ID etc. it’s centralized so they have a place to ask for that information. X needs India so they have to comply. If they lost the market in India they would lose the ad revenue that the number of users there provide.
Nostr doesn’t have the same set of problems.
With Nostr, your IP address isn't hidden. Nostr is not about privacy. There's no one to ask, because your information is freely available.
You can take measures to prevent this, (VPN, Tor, etc), but those are not Nostr.
Nostr has never been about privacy. In fact, it's about confirmed identity.

He could have done that without Nostr though, and Nostr does not provide any privacy.
I don't agree that Nostr would have helped him in any way in this situation.
Nostr could help him post, if he had been banned, but that is not the case here.
