Maybe hit a snag in the worm hotel. These were rescued from the road. Anyone know if they are suitable for a worm hotel?

I haven't had much success with them.

Well shoot. So you think there is any issues with adding them... Because I already did.

No not to worry, it'll help break things down too - it just might not survive long term.

For these type of worms I like to throw em into my garden or exposed compost pile.

I put about a pound in my worm hotel. Maybe bread to take them out if they are in the surface.

Yeah man & it might work for you because you have horse manure - don't fret - just keep documenting the process!

Thanks. I grabbed a few from the top and pretty them into a greenhouse raised bed.

Also lmk if you want red wigglers - I've never shipped em yet & need to test that out - we can settle in BTC 😎🧑🀟

Canada?

I have to go to the post office to get a shipping quote for someone else in Canada for comfrey root cuttings - will get back to both of you probably Monday (finally got a day off).

Maybe some comfrey as well...

Definitely

I’m in the market for some red wrigglers. No worries if you can’t supply but would keep it in the Nostrich family if I can.

Let's do it, I'm happy to keep it in the Bitcoin/Nostr circular economy & test out the shipping!

DM me the details when you’ve got the information.

Will DM you on Monday, US based right?

Yep Ohio

Is that a jumping worm?

I'm don't know. Most of them were road worms.

I just grabbed about 30 earth worms after a big rain. I throw them in my compost typically but I am not sure how well they adapt to it. I figured being employed is a better deal for them than drowning or being smushed. πŸ˜€

I read thinking the same thing. I was kidnapping them, I was recuing them. They are destined for a better life...now get in the bucket!

there are worms like the red wiggles that are better suited to the compost bin or pile. local earthworms aren't as efficient and probably will try to escape, especially if the pile is producing heat. nightcrawlers. while popular with bass fishermen, aren't good composters either. they all have their place, but it just might not be in your pile.

Thanks. It is a worm hotel so they will have a problem getting out. If they all nicely I will let them go.
