The start is huge. The pruning is happening later. The blockchain is like 500Gb.
The pruning happens as you validate; otherwise youβd be forced to store the entire thing at IBD and then prune to the size you want to keep which would defeat the purpose of pruning (ability to run a node with minimum storage requirements)
The only problem is space. Just make sure you have enough storage or you can always prune.
βBitcoin Core requires a one-time download of about 500GB of data plus a further 5-10GB per month. By default, you will need to store all of that data, but if you enable pruning, you can store as little as 6GB total without sacrificing any security.β
Also itβs cheaper to get a good one laptop than raspberry pi set upπ€
