Daily walk. Got attacked by another dog. This time I was armed with pepper spray after the last time. It works a treat. Sprayed when the dog was about 5feet away. It immediately stopped and ran away. Pepper spray for the win. I highly recommend this brand in gel form as it was quite windy and the gel kept its trajectory and hit the spot
I feel sorry for the dog but I had to do what I had to do. The owners either need to contain the dog or train it.

Who knows. He spotted me and just charged at me. I waited until I finally felt it wasn’t going to stop and my safety was at risk. I could spray from 20 feet but waited until about 5.

Did you hear about the Canadian couple(and their dog) that was recently eaten by a bear in Banff? Bear pepper spray is far from a guarantee…the best sprays are not legal in all states. While a firearm isn’t a guarantee either, with a little training, any firearm with enough good shots will terminate any dog threat.

Well, they used the entire can. I don’t know if it is known how accurately they used it. But they’re Canadian, so it’s a moot point. They are forbidden from carrying firearms for self defense.

After what i witnessed today I’m confident it works well with dogs. I only sprayed for about a second and he stopped immediately. Stopped barking and snarling and turned away and ran off.

Self defense is defined as protection against another human.
As a Canadian I assure you we are definitely allowed to carry firearms in the wilderness for protection against animals - EXCEPT in a National or Provincial park (where they were).
I didn’t realize that’s how Canadians cleverly define self defense so people think it’s ok.
Thankfully in the US we don’t have to justify why we carry firearms. We don’t need a reason.
Anyway, Canadians are definitely allowed to *use* lethal force - and even firearms - for self defense.
We just aren't allowed to CARRY them for that reason.

Yeah. The US illegally restricts our use of short barreled shotguns and rifles on the theory that because they are not military weapons, they can’t be protected by the second amendment. But some state ban weapons because they are military weapons, or like such weapons, because they are ignorant of the law.
But since justice takes generations when it comes to firearms, people literally will die in prison before “shall not be infringed” is defined by a court of law.
