Not sure about this. It’s beginning to sound like the dreaded“algo”. Also, likes are cheap and not the best indicator of the quality of a post. People need to decide what they want to see, not be told what they ought to see

What about the posts with the most comments that day instead?
Comments are a better indicator than likes, sure, but it still doesn’t address the issue of a client having to make a somewhat arbitrary decision on what users get to see. Most will agree on basic ground truths: spam is bad; porn is bad; gratuitous violence is bad. Create those filters and give users the option to turn them on. Beyond that, it become a subjective and arbitrary algorithm, IMO
Fair, but for users who want to find interesting new people to follow or posts that are getting lots of activity that they might find interesting, what would you say is the best way to do that without them having to wade through a firehose global feed?
The non-algorithmic way would be: if those users are following enough high-signal accounts, the other interesting posts they might be missing will appear in their TL through reposts

I agree with Avi. No algos. Now you have a centralized computer telling you what it thinks you want based on behavior, turns people into robots over time 🤖. This may be the headhunter in me, and maybe not enough people understand Boolean anymore. But simple Boolean search feature with filters could help find profiles people are interested in just by searching keywords.
