I very much don't like christmas from the first part, where they added the "mass" part to it because I'm not catholic. The original christians were not catholic, catholicism is a coopting of christianity by the state and the owners of the state.
Second, I grew up in the southern hemisphere, and it falls in the middle of summer vacation, which kinda sucks because it muddles things up.
Third, it's really just a festival of the sun god, who was the same one who demanded the aztecs slaughter innocent people to protect the crops. That enemy is still with us, and now wants us to worship windmills and die of cold. Same same.
Third, since the late 19th century, and Coca Cola's invention of Santa Claus, derived out of the northern european Jack Frost, who is a demon who kills you... and he was devised by Coca Cola as a way to get people to drink poison cocaine and caffeine laced sugar cane juice, and it gradually turned into a general marketing scheme like birthday cards and diamonds.
Zero substance to any of these things, or downright evil.
I just don't know what to say... Have fun staying uninformed about history and soppy and sentimental to benefit big corporations.
I have no problem with your distaste of how we’ve strayed from the true history of Christmas, and all the consumerism that now dominates the holiday.
The only reason I even engaged with you was because you said “Nobody ever really enjoys that shit. They get drunk, have fights, and commit suicide and shit. For real, the stats say it.”
I haven’t had that experience of Christmas, nor have the majority of the people around me. There’s a big difference between saying Christmas as currently practiced has lost its way, and saying that it’s full of nihilism and hate. It is what you make of it.
The people who are excited to celebrate the holiday and be with their family in a manner they enjoy don’t see Christmas the way you do, and choosing to make it into such a negative thing is no way to live.
