Been trying to grow them for years, never had any luck. Any tips?

We start them indoors and they are self seeding a bit. What is your climate zone?
I don't know what our area would be in the US system. We are technically Mediterranean in climate here in South Australia, but we are in the hills, we seem to have an alpine climate in winter and very hot summers. I'll try to start them indoors this year.
