OK…good…I’m not the only one who thought so.

Just proves how tribal we really are... It's so deeply ingrained into our primitive brain we don't notice it but it really runs most of our lives...

Don't be average.

Buy bitcoin.

Decent read. I think it glosses over the fact that mass appeal requires appeal to the lowest common denominator, hence, watered down artistic concepts. Globalization maybe has proliferated this.

I have a prominent friend who remarked that all the "Bitcoin Girl Influencers" have a similarly crafted persona. Because they're striving for mass appeal, likely. Checkmate? Lol. Jk. Mostly.

Soullessness in short

How do you stand out, Nat?

I hate grey cars

God, that's depressing.

Probably the same with frequencies in music. Everything over the last 40 years has become more and more compressed. šŸ™„

Such a good video

Everything’s the same, but look how much choice you have.

Can also look at it that there’s a specific frequency and sound combination that humans are attracted to.

Shut up and play the hits!

🤣 so good

We have sold a tan/beige color scheme for one of our products for years. Steady modest growth.

We released a gray color scheme for the same product and sales have basically doubled each of the last two years.

A friendly reminder to Keep Nostr Weird. #[0]

Fascinating read. One of those things you sense, but hadn’t yet seen confirmed.

tl;dr The Great Convergence

Yes! As a musician, I do follow these trends. Another great example.

ā€œI’m not saying this is any good. I’m saying that this’ll win. It’s mass appeal. It’s like what motels put up, and it hangs there for years, and no one ever throws acid at it.ā€

Parks and Recreation

S2 E9: The Camel

You’re on a roll! I lol’d reading that. ā€œNo one ever threw acid at it.ā€ That’s the bar, isn’t it?

Exactly. "Least Objectionable Programming" as one of my communication profs once described it

From Michael Crichton's "The Lost World" (1995)

History repeating. Or accelerating.

This is one of my biggest questions about widespread use of AI. Will it help us come up with novel ideas or just re-feed us more of the same?

I've been using stable diffusion for months now and it could easily generate endless images that look exactly like the stuff in that article. Except for the images with text, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

I think it will be cheaper and easier to soothe the masses with bland, average content. At the same time, perhaps a new role emerges for those who do the hard work of sifting through an endless stream of generated content, elevating the rare gems, for an audience that wants to keep things weird.

I think this is money: "At the same time, perhaps a new role emerges for those who do the hard work of sifting through an endless stream of generated content, elevating the rare gems, for an audience that wants to keep things weird."

I also think there will be people who are especially good at getting an AI to create weird and interesting things, almost like playing an instrument particularly well or uniquely. Something like the Ani DiFranco of AI šŸ™‚

Ani DiFranco of AI—love it!

Victor crushes that topic in this interview

It's nice when an article captures something you've been noticing for sometime.

ā€œBitcoin fixes thisā€ could even apply here… Easy money also leads to safe choices in business. If everyone’s playing with other peoples money, there’s a disincentive to be bold.

Thanks for the share Nat. Great read. Scary too.

An average school system and mega corporation

globalization don't help.

The airbnb 'familiarity' style screams we need to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. Don't get me wrong I like comfy accommodation and a decent (sort of) coffee (starbucks) when I travel so perhaps we all need to question our choices.

In a world with so many choices and abundance, we really need to make decisions based on our values that resonate rather than the first thing that looks comfortble and easy. Not easy as it takes time. Fiat economies have taken our time away!

#bitcoin will bring it back via deflation as our good friend #[2] writes. I look forward to that future.

Original places are hard to find. Here is to La Antigua Casa de Guardia in Malaga, my hometown, serving sherry, wine and tapas since 1840. If you are around you must stop there.

Even the things we read like that article šŸ˜…

Kind of reminds me of Execubot A from Futurama, who's programmed to only like things it has seen before.

Good read, thanks for sharing .

The entire world is turning boring beige.
