pv 🤙 What's your favourite username?

If you fancy a short link to your Nostr profile, iris .to /username links are now available 💫

They are also handy for searching nostr users if you know the user's Nostr address (username@iris.to).

True — you have registered the username, but for some reason it doesn't resolve. Could be some cloudflare cache issue. Looking into it.

I changed nostr.json?name=user not found error code to 418 so CF doesn't cache it. But maybe it should return code 200 with empty {"names":{}}? I wonder how others do it.

If you register a username on iris.to and later on change your NIP-05 address then the previously registered username becomes available again?

You can use the username as a short link to your profile outside of Nostr: iris.to/mattoso

NIP05 is just extra feature of the username. You can use it or use some other NIP05 if you have many.

I ask because I created a username on iris and then changed the NIP-05 address on my profile and my previously registered iris.to/username was said to be "available" when I opened iris.to from a "new" browser and tried to register it again with a "new" private key.

Looks like a Brave issue, it shows up on Firefox. On brave it will let me register it over and over again. On Firefox it shows me it's already registered and it shows on my profile.

No, didn't work for me. I tried multiple times - same result except one time where the cloudflare widget froze on success screen. If it helps, I am using Tor browser.

If you haven't logged in on Iris for a while now you have a good reason.

Register a free Iris username that is easy to share outside of nostr. It works as a NIP05 identifier as well.

Some of you may have your current nostr username as a pre-reserved but it will expire early next month if you don't claim it.

You can't post this a day after I've spent 12.5k sats on NostrPlebs Nip05 😥, but good implementation! I don't see the iris.to menu on configurations yet. Do I have an old version? I'm using Iris on PC

What's your take on the follower count? Should we remove it entirely?

Your follower count on Iris may seem lower than on other clients. Iris rejects events from authors that your social network has not interacted with. You get way less spam and your follower count number is lower for the same reason.
