Nope. It's an intentional organized movement on the TikTok app that only started 24 hours ago.
The ban is happening in 6 days and people are very angry at Congress and American owned social media companies. They don't want to go back to meta and no one uses X.
The CEO of RedNote has already publicly welcomed American TikTokers and said they are working on translating the app into English.
Red Notę came outta nowhere! Never heard of it.
The reason they picked RedNote is specifically because it is a Chinese owned app. All to be petty and show they will go anywhere but where the American government can control.
That’s kinda cool, actually.
Yeah TikTokers are cool! And they understand the power they have in numbers. They lead movements on a regular basis and win.
That's why they are banning the app.
They are future Nostriches. We just need to build a bridge to make it easy for them to come.

I think Mastodon’s answer to TikTok was called Looply? Can’t remember. Heard about it, didn’t try it. Maybe it’s a similar idea?
I think it’s easier than ever to upload video here with Primal’s new subscription service. Now if Olas video would work… we are getting closer.
Thank you! Yes even simple image uploading used to glitch for me months ago and now never does. We are so early! But just unfortunate timing with this ban. If only they banned it next year 😅

I don't think it's anything special. More like their Pinterest/Instagram.
But the Chinese users are welcoming the American users and trying to guide them around how to use the app. It's actually very sweet.
TikTokers are sharing screenshots and saying they're gonna accidentally achieve peace with China through this ban 😅
