I have now, for the first time, completed a sketchbook!!! πŸŽ‰

It is such a joy to flip through it and see the #proofofwork of my daily sketches over the past 2.5 months.

I thought about stopping here. Because the end of a book is closure. Because it would be nice not to feel obligated to do one every day. Because there are other art things I want to focus on.

I thought about continuing to a new 4” x 4” sketchbook. Because Mom has more flowers I want to draw and know the names of. Because I love looking back at the accumulated drawings. Because I thought of a theme for July’s drawings.

Valid reasons on both sides.

Going to keep going for now. πŸ‘

congratulations on finishing a sketchbook! not an easy feat

Thank you! Deciding on the smaller size helped so much.

yeap! that's what I did too. the first sketchbook I finished, I made myself. it was small and had only a few pages haha.

I’ve made a small accordion book and a small sewn book, but they were for specific projects. Might have to make one to use as a sketchbook - thanks for the idea!

Congrats! All valid reasons.

I do get the not having to do it every day thing. It is very tough. Do you have to do every single day? What about every other day if it's becoming too much?

Thanks! I know I’m more of a binge person (do a bunch at one time) than a little every day, but keep reading how daily practice is so helpful, which I do find to be true … kind of? Im not trying to develop a career skill, so mostly it’s me trying different things and figuring out what makes me happy. And trying to keep my SQUIRREL! Syndrome in check by not bouncing to some new cool thing. 🚫🐿️

My gut feel on every other day is it’s a muddy middle ground. Like try for every day with the occasional lapse (as in yesterday when we visited a friend in the hospital) or don’t do it.

I get a lot of joy out of monthly projects - 30 or 31 days of something, which gives me something to share every day. Whether I create those things every day or a bunch at a time in 9 days …. Seems like a silly thing to stress over now that I see it written out. πŸ˜…

Thanks for the comment. Got me a little clearer. πŸ«‚

Haha I can understand the binge and also squirrel mentality πŸ˜‚ I am more of a habit former. If I get in the habit of something its OK if I miss a day or two. But if I let it go for too long then I will probably stop for awhile. Which is OK! I try to tell myself πŸ˜…

I just want to be creative again. That's my own personal goal.

I try not to pressure myself into these things, then I just find no joy in it anymore.

Amazing, well done!

Thank you! Just downloaded your coloring pages - they look fun!

Yay! I hope enjoy them. πŸ’œπŸ₯°
