First day on Nostr using Primal client. I’m confused: Why do I need to provide sensitive personal information to activate / create a zap wallet? Is the reason Primal or Nostr?

You don't need to.

I can use a throw away email and fake information I guess but still: Any idea which party wants to / is forced to collect this data?

It's how primal is able to have an inbuilt wallet and still be in the app /play stores

Check out amethyst on Android/damus if you're on iPhone and find a different wallet app

For receiving zaps, you can add any lightning address to your nostr profile. Doesn’t have a to be a Primal address. For sending zaps in Primal you can either use their built in wallet or connect any external NWC wallet. You only need to provide the info they ask for if using their built in wallet, and I think it’s probably because their wallet is powered by Strike, which is a regulated money service.

Perfect. Thx! Let me try this so I can „zap you“(?) 🙏

hey -- we want to send you a test zap, but couldn’t find a NIP-05 or ⚡ lightning address on your profile. u can set one up for free on rizful https://rizful.com ... then pls reply here and we will do a test zap.

Does Rizful act as a proxy, forwarding the @rizful.com LNURL to the wallet of our choice, e.g. forwarding to a Bolt12 address?

Or are Rizful users required to use the Rizful wallet?

If you don't want to use a kyc wallet I suggest trying a different client.

Primal is really only good for the convenience of the inbuilt wallet. It's lacking in other ways.

Also check out following.space in your browser to find more people to follow based on interests.

For sending, you don't need to use Primal's built-in wallet. I believe that any Nostr app (I also use Amethyst) supports sending from any wallet (I usually use Phoenix on Android)

For receiving, you can use any wallet that has an LNURL. The Primal Wallet is convenient, but Primal can easily use any LNURL-supporting wallet for receiving zaps

I expect/hope that Bolt12 addresses will become more popular for receiving, and that all wallets and Nostr clients will support them
