If I recall correctly, they ripped off #[2]‘a firmware to make a commercial device, against the open source license.
I wouldn’t buy one without clearing up that question.
I probably wouldn’t buy one anyways as I speak #coldcard.

Yo but cold card built off Trezors firmware so what’s the difference?
Is that’s the point of open source to build on top of others work?
Foundation Passport is a great device, what do you wanna know about it?
I have a full review I'm releasing soon btw.
Nice
Just any opinion on what you like or dislike.
I’ll read your review when it’s done
It's definitely the most powerful prepackaged device on the market.
It's also the most noob friendly considering the QR envoy app pairing.
As far as what I don't like...that'll be in the review 😆.
If you don't mind me asking, what are you using now? Re what's the motivation for the purchase?
Haven’t decided I’m going to buy one yet just curious about it. If I was going to buy a new device I’m pretty sure that’s the way I would go.
Do you have a SeedSigner?
I’m using a Jade rn
I have a Jade coming my way for testing;
Until then I can't really comment on it outside of what I've seen / read.
If you manage to get the parts for a SeedSigner I'd say that's your next logical step.
That way you can leverage a DiY cold storage device that's stateless - re: it wipes itself everytime you power down & you don't have the same supply chain risk profile.
Yea it’s cool I’ve looked into it parts now are hard to get. Can do the same with a Jade using seed qr.
AKA I speak "protect me harder papi statist cuck"

Sounds like he didn’t realize even a pure leeching for profit clone is permissible under gpl3. I can’t verify that license was used though; I’m sure you’ve noticed the license file on GitHub is empty?
Well, that pretty much crosses Coinkite off my list of companies to do business with. Also, Coldcard looks like crap. #Bitcoin #coldstorage #Ledger
Meh…I don’t fault the upstart for wanting to get things off the ground fast. And I don’t fault CK for ceasing to make it trivial for competitors to get started. All is fair in love and war.
Having used coldcards since the first device, the evolution has always been along the lines that solves problems the inventors themselves had faced. This method yields something very useful for those folks who are like the creators.
But this is but a small fraction of the market. Regular people might enjoy the (presumed) innovations of a fork. This is the nature of foss & the market.
