JFC it took me 2 hours to figure out how to upgrade my Mastodon server that was a major version behind. Only the nerdiest of sysadmins will have sovereignty in the Fediverse at this rate.

I would have tried hosting Mastodon years ago, except I saw it was ruby on rails 💎🚂 and I didn't have the heart to struggle with that after supporting a Redmine install for a decade 😐

Yeah, I did the same thing a bit ago. I have since shut down that instance, it's not worth the headache. It's not designed well to be run for one person, and that wasn't the only issue.
