I think I’ve said this, but one day, home servers will be as ubiquitous as the PC
Discussion
They must be.
How weird are us that had home servers for the last 20 years?
Extremely uncommon. Fascinatingly so
We lived through fidonet times, way before anybody around knew what a computer was. We used IRC on Unix terminals. I am horrified when they promote groups about electronics and instead of schematics on how to build a solar tracker or a laser data transmitter there are iphones Android phones and some smart tv.
I sure as hell hope so. Especially as people realize the dangers of trusting large platforms with their data.
That’s the future I want to live in
Should have been like that from the beginning. It was the original idea.
Yup we started out using servers and terminals
I have a dream of a provably private cloud server. Home servers fundamentally suck.
If home servers become as common as PCs, I’ll be ready with a steady stream of listings for used yachts for sale (https://www.yachttrading.com/used-yachts-for-sale/)—all at your fingertips!
