The crazy in me thinks I should do a Nostr relay app. There is no need for each app to download all events to your phone individually.

What would be the difference? You mean, using regular HTTP requests rather than communicating through websockets to get the data?
I think he means a locally run relay to act as a unified cache for all Nostr apps so they dont need to cache the same data seperately.

It would enable clients to be lighter weight. Like middleware in between your relays and clients. Or kinda like a push notification system that knows what youβve already seen maybe
yeah I seeing more a proxy server that acts as a push notification server and cache for clients that actually having the relay on the phone.
Im not a kotlin or darth developer, but I love to help you on that.
Just have a Nostr service running in the background, and any app can connect and receive and send notes. Could simplify making new clients and tools as well.
If you can help or indicate someone who can build s relay app for this server distro would be amazing, thousands of running servers could install a nostr relay .

We should find a way to give Vitor the time. Otherwise someone's going to build a web app that does this collation and onboards a ton of users to custodial #Nostr.

Not crazy at all, I've been anticipating this for a while. It would give a better experience in all the apps in addition to the efficiencies gained.
I was thinking on similar lines.. it's a nostr relay with a feed processor that runs on a server to serve aggregated custom feeds for people to consume via http
Then I realised I was just going in circles in under just 2 hours... π
Unfortunately, some shit goverments will ban ur relays. I strong suggest relays could synchronize messages from other relays.
