Are you going to make another #poofening? 😂😂

Are you doing it with a client or your own stuff?

😂No, i dont think so.

Just in amethyst's relay controls, adjusting stuff... i learned that band is the only relay i was reading from that sends me renotes. (I'm very far from my own yet)

i actually never figured it out! 🤣 what are the symbols supposed to represent?

The house is your home feed, envelope is dms, the people is your extended network (I believe, i could be confused on that one), and the globe is, well, global. Shutting off global on most of the big relays makes global feed usable. Search is obvious. Up, write. Down, read.

I've messed with those a lot. Stuff works very differently for me depending on my physical location so I tried really hard to find some continuity 😅

hmmm, i see - but what are the reasons to turn them on or off? Sure there may be specific content coming from a relay but how could you get feedback on that? 🤔

I'm not 100% sure what you mean by feedback? You can set dms to only be accepted from smaller, maybe paid, relays or ones that honor the gift wrap scheme... Limit global feed to well filtered/moderated relays... Only write to paid relays, but read from public ones or vice versa. Add a search relay you like & use it for just search while not searching all the others... The relay icons next to notes show that it is working. Cleaning up global feed showcases it really well. If that's what you mean by feedback? Based on the difference of what's pulled in, I can only assume sending out works too. No feedback there. I've never had the desire to stalk myself with a throwaway key long enough to know 😂

You should play with the globes. Check your feed, turn it off on a bunch of relays & wait 10 min or so, then check again. Shutting off Damus relay for global had the largest impact I think. If you don't like it, just turn them back on & wait a few minutes again.

And now I know that when everyone is going crazy with reposts, I can shut off reading from band & make them go away 😂🤣

Hmm, just kinda opaque to figure out what they represent and why one would modify them from just the app's context.

feedback in the sense of being able to identify the behavior or attributes of a relay that would warrent a change to the default settings - signals from the relays to inform how you put your settings

I think the Vitor & crew were working on making relay settings more explanatory. That'll be helpful when it rolls out. The kind types each supports are listed on the relay cards now so it takes some research to see what relays support what events but it's totally doable for us early adopters. That part definitely needs clarification eventually.
