I received a private message by a man who was asking me how I am doing with the current market or something like that. The message almost immediately disappeared.

I wondered what happened and now I see the button "unblock" on his profile.

Can and in what instance can someone be blocked system wide without me personally blocking him?

Pro tip, anyone asking you how your trades are going or if you want to learn about bitcoin mining is a scammer and likely also a bot 🙂

Thank you! I got that part. I just got curious if he perhaps spammed other and by being collectively reported he got automatically blocked for me from the protocol. Is that a functionality within #nostr? Or did I moved my finger and unknowingly blocked him myself without realizing.

I like to understand how the system works...

I understand you question now.

I think depends on what client you are using. Different clients seem to have implemented different spam controls.

I'm not aware of any spam blocking solutions on the relay layer yet... but there is new stuff happening every week. I can't keep up 🙂

Thank you, for sharing. It satisfied my inquiry for now 🙂

I can't remember the specifics & I think it depends on the app, & possibly relays..🤔 but in order to efficiently deal with spam if a number of the accounts you are connected to report an account as spam some apps will treat the account that way for you too.

Aha. Ok. Yeah. I think that's what may have happened. Like when certain content is hidden. I am using Amethyst btw.
