There will be nostr stocks just like there were Linux stocks and Kafka stocks and MongoDB stocks. I try to convince gab to become a nostr client as well. Would be easy to integrate and they would be the #1 nostr client over night.

Keep in mind Turdo pissed off Rob Colbert enough to leave the Hydra projects half-finished, with the only one having any usability (Gab TV) being shuttered and shoved haphazardly into the main site.
It's also why one of the few smart things Gab did (become a massive ActivityPub instance) was halfhearted once Rob pulled back, and why the UI is as awful as it is. It was never supposed to be the final product.
I think the first big social media to support truly open Nostr integration (so not ZBD) will win big. There's a wide-open opportunity to become Nostr's default gateway for new users.
Since gab is web based they could do this easily. Gab has already suffered thru the maximum deplatforming from cloud hosting, domain names, app stores, payment processors etc. They are the best positioned for the type of censorship being imposed at all levels of the internet.
Yeah exactly. I imagine they could turn their current servers into relays and migrate existing Gab content onto the Nostr protocol.
Gab's relays could prioritize their own content, but still temporarily store content from other Nostr servers to help the protocol as a whole. And Gab users would have their content spread across multiple Nostr relays, so the whole Gab ecosystem is distributed and censorship-resistant without completely sacrificing the Gab community and identity.
I think the Minds dude seems keen on nostr, and the Hive founder too. Could be possible they would do something with the protocol?Absolutely no idea.

Bluesky users say nostr is full of nazis (I think they also say twitter too), nostr users say mostr is full of nazis. I've never used Gab, but I know I have to take these things with a pinch of salt. It's all a bit silly.
Gab is same as mostr but with Boomers.
I am just guessing based on what people list in the twitter alts that it probably isn't that active. Think bluesky and activity pub are probably where it's at, with nostr as a bit of a curious outlier. But this is really not based on any stats just my suspicions. Think in my head gab, truth and Parler are kinda somewhat not in the race. Maybe that is my ignorance tho. And tbh all of this within the context of twitter/X *somewhat* being saved by Elon (yes yes I know the problems), I think the platform /protocol war would've been v different had Elon not bought.
Gab is doing perfectly fine. Nobody on GAB even heard of BlueSky, Nostr or Fediverse because they are perfectly happy being on GAB and don't want to be anywhere else. I don't know a single person who is on BlueSky but i have about 250 followers on GAB - real people, not bots.
the only reason i don't like GAB is, well 2 reasons:
1 - Christians
and
2 - Boomers
if you're a Christian Boomer you do not need any social media site other than GAB full stop.

The incentives are massively imbalanced in a centralized social media company.
…not to mention how easily it could be compelled by a government to put its users at risk.
It will be very difficult to unseat x.com as the leader especially since they started paying creators.
I’m not claiming that nostr will unseat X but I also don’t think it’s unlikely.
X is taking itself down one move at a time. The user experience is shit.
Spending any amount of time on there creates stress and contention.
As for creators, they aren’t earning anything substantial. A popular account on there with ~370k followers earned $70 during the month of September off of 9.6 million impressions. X has taken far more away from creators with the changes in the past year than they’ve paid them.
Meanwhile, creators earn via p2p v4v here.
No algorithm. No pay to play. No gatekeepers. No censorship. No deplatforming.
It also kinda funny - where you are getting your info from - is that Google? Do you trust their info. Better to actually visit gab yourself and trust your own impressions instead of those given to you.
