Cheers to the nostr:npub1hxfkcs9gvtm49702rmwn2aeuvhkd2w6f0svm4sl84g8glhzx5u9srk5p6t crew for convincing me to make the switch from REST/Tailscale to LNC to remotely manage my node.

Whats the advantage. Does it also build a wireguard connection?

You're basically pairing your node and phone through the Lightning Labs infrastructure to make the connection. This way you can access your node remotely and locally without having to keep Tailscale running in the background.

I'm testing it out for a while to see if this ends up being better than my previous setup.

Hm sounds like I will stay with tailscale for the time being then. Works perfectly should in theory not leak anything either

I knowtThe lightning labs connection is end-to-end encrypted so not sure how much info is leaking. I’m sure someone more technical can advise: https://lightning.engineering/posts/2021-11-30-lightning-node-connect-deep-dive/

Thank you for mentioning this - for a long time I just used TOR, now I tried the LNC and so far it works great - and it was very easy to set it up

I found it does not reliably connect without a static IP. Solution: LNC + Tailscale

Interesting. In that case there would be no real benefit to using LNC than my previous setup since the goal is to eliminate the need to keep Tailscale connected.

My IP ain’t static β€” and I haven’t had any major reliability issues so far
