there is something about the «like button» in Primal that makes me come back as well as the fact that you have the option to zap. Cuz sometimes I like a post but might not want to zap, so it’s nice to have the option to do so

Guessing primal or something wiped it, its just a flag on the profile.
I may just use a settings note instead to avoid this
wencke, if you disable onlyzaps, you can both zap and like notes
onlyzaps removes likes completely visibility wise from your client

so you go to primal to like even tho you could do it on damus

OnlyZaps really should disable others from liking your notes for it to be truly effective.

Yeah I recall. But it’s not you censoring, it’s the user and only if they select it.

People argued it was still useful as a way to signal liked posts to other people, even if the person receiving it could not see it. I found that argument good enough to restore it.
I can see both sides. I guess if people are used to likes it’s harder to change the perceptive of not having it. It’s hard to unlearn something that is so ingrained in people’s daily way of interacting with social media
onlyzaps is great as you say but using multiple clients, like me, really doesn’t help. So yes I’m not helping

I use Primal alongside Damus for four main reasons. 1. Because I can (Nostr keys for the win). 2. Primal Wallet for receiving zaps on both clients. 3. Binned my personal domain NIP-05 and replaced it with a custom one from Primal that matches my handle. 4. I like testing.
With the current state of LNURL wallets out there (and Apple Store stupidness), I think Damus is a little more confusing to set up for zapping (NWC is not immediately obvious), so Primal (client + wallet) is going to work for a lot of newcomers.
but Damus is way faster and easier to post from. I rarely post from Primal. The only thing I use in Primal is the option to like and zap, & see what people have posted. I mostly use Damus for posting and replying as well as zapping at times
what makes liking better in primal? just curious. do you have damus note zaps enabled or is primal just easier to zap?
Damus is easier. I never even setup the wallet in Primal because they asked for an email address.

That’s the worst thing about primal. An element of KYC questions when you first set it up. But you can fill those with nonsense. It should offer you the option to set up a wallet which I think is “powered” by strike. They will give you a random LNURL for the wallet. I also requested a custom LNURL and NIP-05 to match my handle, which they kindly setup.

really sad this is what the “accepted” way to onboard new people into zaps now. This isn’t what I was thinking when I created them. I guess I we’re just rebuilding the old system now 😕

Supposedly you can fill it with nonsense. I read a note a couple of weeks ago, I think it was Tatum who said he linked his lightning wallet to two different clients and embedded up with all sorts of problems and lost funds. Damus works and I didn't want to lose funds regardless of the amount, so I haven't tried.
i agree. it’s sad but if this is a way to onboard people into bitcoin I think it’s an alright start :) maybe nostr can be the platform where they learn more about bitcoin and make them realise

but i prefer Damus in the sense that you can see notes and replies. makes it easier to find new people and see what’s going on. Just my preference tho
