As a former military officer myself, I can say the entire military hasn't maintained a high level of fitness for a long time now. Especially soldiers in support units. The past 15 years or so it's gotten pretty lax, unfortunately. I imagine the guard is even worse, since they arent FT soldiers.
National McGuards
It's a bit more lax in some cases. A lot of guardsman having been doing it 10-20 years, sometimes more. As you age the standard does go down. At the same time, I served with some big boys that could move surprisingly quick with good endurance.
Another big thing is if they are infantry or not, I believe these guys are MPs. Different culture.
